'Food from the Sky', in association with Budgen of Crouch End, hold their first birthday party, in the biodynamic garden on the roof of the supermarket. 'Food from the Sky' founder, Azul-Valerie Thome and owner of Budgen, Crouch End, Andrew Thornton, along with numerous volunteers, welcomed members of the Crouch End community to the roof garden to help them celebrate. Home made soup and spelt bread, from local baker, Dunn's, were served, along with mulled wine, children and adults alike had their faces painted, seeds were given away and fresh herbs and vegetables harvested. Harvests now happen every Friday in the growing season and the produce is sold in the supermarket downstairs, thus making the food miles travelled by the produce zero. Local school, charities and community groups are also participating in workshops and open days with the initiative, which, it is hoped, will be expanded over the coming months and years.
