Mesa Gonia, Santorini, Greece. 08.05.2014. Display in the courtyard of a wine museum and cellar in Mesa Gonia. The circular structures are old 'kouloura' vines, a method of weaving the living vines into a structure which retains moisture in a dry climate. Mesa Gonia was destroyed by an earthquake in 1956, and the inhabitants largely moved to Kamari. the village is only recently being repaired and reinhabited. There are still many derelict houses.
